Before trains took over, stagecoaches were the genteel means of travel in the West. This 15-seat 1860s Concord coach cut wheel ruts between Carson City, Nev., and Hangtown (Placerville), Calif., delivering such swells as Ulysses S. Grant and Mark Twain.
