Hawthorne District, Portland

Bridgeport Ale House in Hawthorne District Portland Oregon

By Nino Padova

A place for a cold one
This lively three-mile stretch of SE Hawthorne Boulevard brims with some of Portland’s hippest microbreweries and brewpubs. Savor a pint at Lucky Labrador Brewing Company (503-236-3555) before heading to the Bagdad Theater and Pub to take in a $3 flick while enjoying one of their ales (503-236-9234). Choose from eight beers on tap at the BridgePort Ale House (503-233-6540). Can’t decide? Ask for the sampler and try a taste of each. Top it all off with a stop at Roots Organic Brewing Co. (503-235-7668). Bartender-brewer Jason McAdam will pour you a tall glass of all-organic suds made with seasonal exotic ingredients such as heather flower, lavender, and rose petals. What else would you expect from the Rose City?
