plate of food at Cool Café at Cantor Arts Center in Stanford, Calif.

By Laura Kiniry and Gregory Gestner

Some museums that delight your eyes can also thrill your taste buds. Here are three where the food is just as tantalizing and adventurous as the art.

CAFE ASIA Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. After wending through some 34 galleries and 2,000 years of Buddhist sculptures and Chinese jades, you’ll be ready for a spicy Korean pork sandwich or a bowl of hearty Tibetan lamb-and-lentil stew. (415) 581-3630, www.asianart.org.

COOL CAFÉ Cantor Arts Center, Stanford, Calif. Indulge in Wayne Thiebaud’s confections on canvas and salivate over the splendid Asian ceramics. Then head for the café’s terrace and a smoked trout sandwich with organic spinach and aioli from sustainable foods advocate and chef Jesse Cool. (650) 725-4758, www.museum.stanford.edu.

MARCHÉ MUSEUM CAFÉ Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Eugene, Ore. Linger over Van Gogh’s Woman Walking in a Garden but leave time for panini with eggplant and mozzarella in the café run by the famed Marché restaurant. (541) 346-6440, uoma.uoregon.edu
