Astoria, Oregon:
A Place to Bring the Kids

lifeguard ship on rough waters at Astoria Oregon’s Columbia River Maritime Museum

By Heather Lee

Oregon’s earliest pioneer settlement has ample family fun. At the Columbia River Maritime Museum (503-325-2323), kids can pretend to steer a tugboat, and at the Uppertown Firefighters Museum (503-325-8669), pint–size firefighters can sit in a fire truck. At the new Tapiola Park Playground, there’s a miniature replica of Fort Clatsop, and the riverfront trolley transports families around town.
