Alberta Street, Portland:
A Place for the Arts

Alberta Street and 22nd Avenue in Portland, Oregon

By Heather Lee

This hip hub in the northeast quarter brims with artistic activity, especially on the last Thursday of every month. During Art Walk, galleries, shops, and restaurants stay open later than usual for a sidewalk party complete with impromptu dancing in the streets (www.artonalberta.org). At any time, you can gallery hop between such places as Onda Arte Latina (503-493-1909), which offers Peruvian pottery and Brazilian textiles, and the Guardino Gallery (503-281-9048), which specializes in contemporary pieces by Northwest artists.
