children at candy factory of Peppermint Place in Alpine Utah

All good kids go to candy heaven.

You don’t have to go to the North Pole to visit a candy cane factory. Just make your way to Kencraft and its retail store, Peppermint Place, in Alpine, Utah. The confectionery wonderland offers a free behind-the-scenes look at the candy-crafting process in all of its sticky splendor. The 90,000-square-foot factory and store specialize in handmade goodies with such roll-off-the-tongue names as Bubble Gum Buddies, Chummy Chums, and Lollipals. Watch globs of syrupy goo being cooked and twisted to form the signature candy canes. Follow the sweet sticks to a room where a team of artists decorates each candy cane with an edible Santa Claus. To get your hands on some of these treats, stop by the retail outlet. Be sure to check out the wide selection of seconds—slightly imperfect candies sold at discounted prices.
