13-inch replica of a Mack steam truck

The Hubley Manufacturing Company’s Panama digger, a 13-inch cast-iron replica of a Mack steam shovel made to commemorate the 1914 opening of the Panama Canal, originally retailed for a few dollars. It’s now worth thousands. See it—and 15,000 other toys from the 1900s to the ’80s—at Kidd’s Toy Museum in Portland, next door to the Kidd family’s auto parts store, 1300, 1301, and 1327 SE Grand Ave., (503) 233-7807.
