Watermelon offers a refreshing break from road food.

When on the road, Via's readers like to munch on beef jerky, carrot sticks, grapes, popcorn, and more:

"Chunks of fresh watermelon are so refreshing," says Gail Miller of Brentwood, Calif.

"Put peanut butter and raisins on celery and you've got ants on a log," says Sydney Nance of Fair Oaks, Calif.

"A Tootsie Pop gives you an energy fix," writes Brenda Rodgers of Eagle River, Alaska.

"Spread cream cheese on thin slices of prosciutto and roll them up," says Donald Frediani of San Francisco.

"Make gorp—good old raisins and peanuts," says Karna Moore of Jacksonville, Ore. " Add chocolate chips for the perfect blend of salty and sweet."

"What's better than an apple?" asks Ram Ramani of Morgan Hill, Calif.
