In celebration of British Columbia’s 150th birthday, the Royal B.C. Museum hosts Free Spirit: Stories of You, Me and BC, March 2008 to January 2009, showcasing artifacts that explore the history of the province. (250) 356-7226, www.freespiritbc.ca.

Follow the new Custer Country’s Southeastern Montana Birding Trail map to seek out sharp-shinned hawks, great horned owls, and black-capped chickadees. (800) 346-1876, www.custercountry.com.

Art begets art in Inspiring Impressionism, an exhibit at the Denver Art Museum employing side-by-side comparisons of works by El Greco, Monet, Degas, and others to show how impressionist artists were inspired by their predecessors. Through May 25. (720) 865-5000, www.denverartmuseum.org.
