A Musk Ox must-have

Igloo Cap made from musk ox wool

What kind of wool would a musk ox wear? Only qiviut, a supersoft underwool that this shaggy arctic ungulate sheds after each winter. The fiber—eight times warmer than sheep’s wool—can be spun into yarn for stoles, tunics, and caps. Find this Igloo Cap (20 percent silk, $180) and more at the Musk Ox Producers’ Co-op in Anchorage (888-360-9665, www.qiviut.com). You can also visit the Musk Ox Farm in Palmer: www.muskoxfarm.org.
