Look past Big Al’s daggerlike teeth and you’ll see that the 10-foot-tall allosaurus endured some Jurassic-size knocks in his day. His well-preserved remains reveal a mangled toe and some cracked ribsinjuries that date back more than 145 million years to the time when this carnivore stalked his meals in what is now northern Wyoming. Al is on display with one of his contemporariesa 75-foot-long apatosaurusat the University of Wyoming Geological Museum in Laramie. (307) 766-2646, www.uwyo.edu/geomuseum.
