If ever a kid could make as much noise as he or she wanted, it would be in a soundproof Scream Chamber in Eugene, Oregon. Outside the chamber, parents rejoice at only being able to see how loud their children are by reading a decibel meter. The whole family can experiment with the physics of sound and its effect on mood and vibrations at an exhibit exploring the science behind what we hear and how we hear it. Other highlights include a giant model of the human ear that exposes the inner workings of the organ, and an instrument called a theramin—which you play without ever touching.
