No need to wait for May’s flowers to witness a swarm of life. Instead, train your binoculars on some of the more than 2 million birds flying through the region. Close to 425 species of birds, including the godwit—a long-billed shorebird with a whistling call—enjoy a haven in Humboldt County, and the festival includes some 100 avian activities, such as art displays, field trips, workshops, and lectures.
