Three venues and 11 plays rope in actors and audiences from around the country. This year's highlights include My Fair Lady and A Streetcar Named Desire.
What's in a name? Consider the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. It’s not just an Oregon festival. Actors and audiences come from around the country and beyond. And it’s not just Shakespeare, either. This year, Eliza Doolittle of My Fair Lady (pictured) and Stella of A Streetcar Named Desire share the spotlight with Kate of The Taming of the Shrew.
With 11 plays and three venues—an Elizabethan-style outdoor stage and two indoor theaters that are active through early November—it even stretches the definition of a festival. Whatever the name, the spectacular stagings and the fans’ camaraderie are just as sweet.
