Filing an insurance claim on your vehicle sounds about as enjoyable as walking barefoot on broken glass. Here are three steps that can smooth your way.

Decide: yes or no? If damage to your vehicle is minor or covered by your deductible, it may make sense to keep your record clean and not file a claim.
Get an assist from AAA If you’re in a crash and insured with AAA, we’ll send a tow truck to the scene, if warranted, and start your claim on the spot. We’ll also arrange to have a rental car waiting for you at the repair facility to which your vehicle is towed.
Keep records Make copies of any receipts and bills that you provide to your insurance company. Under your policy, you may be reimbursed for some expenses.
