This festival celebrates the kokanee, a landlocked species of sockeye salmon that migrates from Lake Tahoe into adjoining streams, principally Taylor Creek (where upwards of 70,000 fish migrate during the run). The event features guided tours of that creek as well as educational booths, a Sammy Salmon mascot, and kids' activities like fish painting. Also on tap is an ocean salmon BBQ.
