The Golden Age of Mexican Cinema of the 20th century is especially known for and marked by Gabriel Figueroa, who contributed to the industry for more than 50 years, helping forge an enduring visual image of Mexico's history, landscape, and people since the country's revolution. Having worked as a studio portrait photographer, photojournalist, lighting artist, camera operator, and cinematographer, Figueroa's work shows both his distinctive visual style and technical skill. This exhibit features Figueroa's film clips, paintings, photos, posters, and archival documents, as well as works by other contemporary artists and filmmakers who focus on the Mexican imagery associated with Figueroa's cinematography.
