The exhibit offers more than 120 ornate household pieces and public ceremonial objects once admired, and often used, by the Romanovs—including Peter I, Catherine the Great, and Nicholas II—from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. Historical photos accompany gilded 1840 dinnerware from the Kremlin Service, delicate porcelain eggs exchanged as Easter gifts, and caskets trimmed with lapis lazuli and other precious stones, many of which were created in the monarchy’s own factories and private workshops by artists such as Peter Carl Fabergé.
