Reflex: Stron Softi Solo Exhibition
625 C St.
Anchorage, AK 99501
The Ketchikan-based artist Stron Softi uses a mosquito to address the notions of consequence and collective responsibility for personal and global anxieties. In the artist's view, humans disperse concerns for issues such as climate change and endangered habitats automatically, reducing them to pest-like problems he likens to a mosquito. In one of his displays, Softi employs video and sculpture with a touchscreen device, allowing visitors to virtually swat enlarged mosquito larvae, and see their reactions projected onto screens.
