A special Smithsonian traveling exhibition is making its California debut at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. Journey Stories features a collection of vintage photographs, paintings, and artifacts that illustrate the impact transportation had on the United States. Visitors can learn how early settlers traveled to and migrated within the United States in search of new economic opportunities, and see how their need for freedom led to the development of transportation technology. To complement the exhibit, the museum has 12 California railroad travel posters on display. After leaving the California Railroad Museum, the exhibit will travel to six other museums throughout the state, including the Heritage Museum of Orange County, La Quinta Museum, Museum on Main Street, Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum, Community Memorial Museum, and Gateway Science Museum.
