In September 1966, Jimi Hendrix traveled to London after being discovered in a New York City nightclub. Within months his group, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released its first Top 10 single in the United Kingdom, "Hey Joe," transforming the American musician into a guitar god worshipped by the British press. A new exhibit commemorates this fateful trip–and the late star's 70th birthday–with more than 100 rare artifacts including a custom-made velvet jacket by the Dandie Fashions.

Celebrate the opening of the exhibit on November 17 with all-star performances of Hendrix hits from Jimi's bandmate Billy Cox, Ernie Isley of the Isley Brothers, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and many others.
