Cobalt Blues Exhibition
1219 SW Park Avenue
Delicate blue-and-white china was (and still is) prized worldwide. The soothing, sophisticated color that characterizes these treasures comes from Iranian cobalt ore that was first introduced to Asia in the 7th century. The Cobalt Blues exhibition at the Portland Art Museum showcases a historical collection of artful, intricately designed cobalt-glazed ceramics from Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Persia, Turkey, and especially China, including a 19th-century porcelain flask from the Qing dynasty.
