Purported to be the country's largest gumshoe adventure, the Chinese New Year's Treasure Hunt attracts over a thousand amateur sleuths for an evening of mindbending urban exploration. Teams of four to nine people (solo players will be teamed up) are given a map and a set of enigmatic clues that, when deciphered, lead to tokens hidden in historical buildings, obscure landmarks, and back alleys in San Francisco's Chinatown, North Beach, and Telegraph Hill. Prizes go to the first teams back with all the tokens, and proceeds support local non-profits. The Chinese New Year's Parade (and its dancing dragons and exploding firecrackers) provides a fitting backdrop to this popular event. Sign up early, as registration is limited.
