Benicia, Calif.: A Town for Kids

Fairytale fantasies come true at City Park’s turreted, castle–inspired Playground of Dreams. And July 4, during the Picnic in the Park & Fireworks, you’ll also find jump houses, a rock–climbing wall, and face painting. The Waterfront Festival, in late July, offers games and pint–size carnival rides. You can create your own flag and learn to tie nautical knots at Benicia’s Historical Museum (707-745-5435). Got more energy to burn? Take a walk to the Waterfront Promenade and First Street Green.
