VIA Contributors

Behind every VIA article there's an intrepid reporter risking sunburn on an exotic Tahitian cruise, indigestion on San Francisco's best food tours, and over-exfoliation in the West Coast's most relaxing spas. These are the men and women who lived to tell the tale.

John Flinn

With the exception of a summer-after-college gig building refrigerator cabinets in Seattle, John Flinn has never worked a day in his life. For over 35 years, however, he has somehow managed to get paid to have fun. As travel editor of the San Francisco Chronicle for 14 years, he traveled on assignment to more than 40 countries. Before that, as a feature writer for the old San Francisco Examiner, he drew a paycheck for flying with the Blue Angels, climbing El Capitan, wrestling a bear, and going on a date with Miss America.
