Hemingway got the nickname "Papa" as a correspondent during World War II. He first visited Sun Valley in 1939.

Ernest Hemingway spent many summers in and near Sun Valley, Idaho, amid what he called “the loveliest mountains that I know.” He also ended his life there. Today, his bust stands on Trail Creek Road.
