Keeping up with the art scene couldn’t be easier at Green Chutes, a 12,000-square-foot gallery and store in Boise’s Collister neighborhood, 10 minutes northwest of downtown. The airy, warehouse-style space holds the creations of more than 100 local artists and consigners. Work in a variety of mediums—Charles Kadlec’s chaotic splatter paintings, Michael Rusnack’s dusky landscape paintings, Ama Rose Designs’ vintage feather hairpins—lies on tables, adorns the walls, and hangs in shipping containers transformed into walk-in galleries.
If your feet tire, you can take advantage of scattered vintage velvet couches, or you can peel back the licorice-red vinyl curtains that separate the gallery space from Salt Tears Coffeehouse & Noshery, a sun-dappled café that serves small plates such as bacon-wrapped jalapeño-shrimp bites and crab enchiladas, as well as Idaho’s own DOMA coffee.
