When the aliens invade, Managing Editor Anne McSilver is sure her fondness for the
sweet life will make her a tasty snack. While VIA colleagues are out kayaking,
mountain biking, spelunking, or river rafting their way to tough sinew and muscle,
she prefers sipping a café crème at a Parisian café or lazing away an afternoon in
a boat on a lake. Of course, most of the time she's at the office simply reporting on
all the adventurous people of the world like
the country's best park
ranger or testing ear plugs
to
get some peace and quiet. Maybe if she hides under her desk, the alien invaders will
pass her by.
Anne has also written other travel pieces for VIA, such as
Reno's National Bowling Stadium,
In Search of Classic Motels,
Cambria, Calif.,The Road to Hana is Paved
with Fun, and Aurora, Ore.: Antiques and History Galore. Anne explored
Julia Morgan's
contribution to architecture in the Hearst Castle article by Deborah Franklin, and in
Peerless Pears, she cheered on a
misunderstood and delicate fruit.
