Larry Levinger
Larry Levinger began his career in journalism as a book critic for Rolling
Stone. He went to write for Playboy, the Atlantic Monthly,
and Geo. He has written extensively about Americana, from extraordinary milkshake
machines to pie. "I've done an awful lot of stories on rodeos," he says. Larry was
uniquely qualified to write about
the Wigwam
Motel in Holbrook, Ariz. As a student at Arizona State University in Tempe, he
spent a semester living in a concrete teepee that had been converted to student
apartments. For VIA's Route 66
package, he also visited Roy's
Motel and Café. He lives in Woodland, Calif.
